Heat has been used for thousands of years as a method for reducing stress, detoxification, muscle healing, and overall relaxation. Before focused light therapy was invented, saunas consisted of just a small fire built underneath an enclosed space. 100 years ago, the infrared lamp saunas were created and have since become extremely popular for people as a healing therapy all around the world.
After using infrared saunas off and on for several years, I decided I needed my own Sunlighten sauna in my home so that I could experience the benefits regularly. Not only does science back up the health claims, but in my own personal experience I have found daily sauna use to be a wonderful tool for detoxification and relaxation.
Infrared saunas work by creating unique light waves that cause positive radiation effects in the human body. It is believed these waves are capable of altering cells, cell membranes, DNA/proteins, and cell fluids. These changes seem to have a positive effect on metabolism and the body’s natural detoxification methods.
When you sit in an infrared sauna, you may experience:
- Sweating
- Increased heart rate
- Mental clarity
- Relaxation
Compared to a traditional sauna, an infrared sauna can feel more mild and less hot. However, most people, including myself, have found them to be MORE effective and efficient than an overly hot traditional sauna room.
Our bodies have an intricate and powerful detoxification process. It is the main reason we are able to survive despite the many toxins and stressors of modern life! However, the body can be worn down when it is overloaded for extended periods of time. Toxins in our food, water, air, and the amount of stress we experience can all take a toll on our health and wellbeing.
One of my favorite benefits of daily infrared sauna usage is the detoxification benefits. Sweating is one of the primary methods our bodies use to cleanse and eliminate toxins. Infrared saunas, like my Sunlighten sauna, help the body to detox the body seven times more effectively than traditional saunas.
Daily workouts and exercise have been a habit of mine for years. There is simply no replacement for the benefits that come from regular movement. Going to the gym also means I experience muscle soreness and aches, occasional joint pain and inflammation.
Sitting in my infrared sauna helps to relieve the inflammation that comes from exercise by increasing circulation and promoting muscle relaxation and recovery. I find that regular use of my sauna helps to improve recovery time and decrease muscle pain.
My favorite time of day to sit in my sauna is at night before bed. At the end of a busy day I sometimes have a hard time winding down. After being in go-go-go mode for many hours, my body feels tense and my thoughts are often spinning.
The heat of my sauna helps to relax my muscles and relieve tension, while also allowing me time to quiet my mind and breathe. The infrared light also promotes relaxation by helping to reduce cortisol (stress) levels throughout the body.
If you are looking for a simple way to detoxify, heal and improve your overall quality of life, I would highly suggest looking into getting a Sunlighten sauna. They are top-of-the-line in quality and made for busy people like you and me who are committed to keeping our health a high priority. I am grateful for mine every day and plan on using it for months and years to come.
